Remember When We Were Here Privacy Policy
Effective May 15, 2026
Remember When We Were Here, shown in the app as Remember When, is designed to help you privately save memories, photos, places, notes, tags, and reminders tied to meaningful moments in your life.
1
Information The App Handles
Remember When may store the following information when you add it to the app:
- Memory titles, notes, descriptions, dates, categories, privacy labels, and audience labels.
- Tags you create or apply to memories.
- Places connected to memories, including place names, addresses, latitude and longitude, and nearby-place reminder details.
- Photos or images you choose to attach, including optimized app copies, thumbnails, captions, and basic file details needed for sync.
- Reminder settings, notification preferences, sync status, deletion status, and app preferences such as iCloud sync and Wi-Fi sync settings.
This information is used only to provide the features of Remember When. If you contact House of Crippen for support, we may also receive the email address, name, and message details you choose to send so we can respond.
2
Local-First Storage And Private iCloud Sync
Remember When stores your memories on your device first. You can create, view, edit, and organize memories without creating a separate House of Crippen account.
When iCloud sync is enabled, memories, places, tags, selected photos, reminder settings, and related sync metadata may sync through Apple iCloud and CloudKit using your private iCloud account. Sync may happen in the background when available, and a Wi-Fi-only sync setting may limit photo sync over cellular data when enabled.
Remember When does not operate a separate developer server for storing your memories. Synced data is stored using Apple iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple privacy and iCloud terms. House of Crippen does not use synced memory content for advertising, profiling, or selling personal data.
3
Photos And Camera
Remember When may ask for access to your photo library or camera so you can attach images to memories. We use photo and camera access only to let you choose photos, take photos, display selected photos in your private memory archive, sync selected photos through iCloud when enabled, and export content when you choose to do so.
Remember When does not scan your photo library for advertising, tracking, or profiling. The app uses the photos you choose to add. You can change photo and camera permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
4
Location
Remember When may request access to your location to support place-based memory features. You can manually add places without granting location permission.
Location may be used to attach a place to a memory, show memories connected to nearby places, display memories on an in-app map, create nearby-place reminders, and notify you when you are near a saved place if you enable that feature.
Remember When may request Always Location permission because nearby-place reminders can work even when the app is not open. Remember When does not use your location for advertising, does not sell your location, and does not use your location to track your trips or build a movement profile.
You can turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings. You may also disable nearby-place reminders inside the app when that setting is available.
5
Notifications
Remember When may send notifications if you enable them. Notifications may be used for nearby-place reminders, memory reminders, date-based reminders, and app-related reminder alerts you choose to create.
Notifications are not required to use the core app. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings. Notification content should be treated as potentially visible on a locked screen.
6
Tracking, Advertising, And Analytics
Remember When does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Remember When does not use your memories, photos, locations, or app activity for targeted advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
At this time, Remember When does not include third-party advertising networks, third-party tracking services, or a separate analytics SDK. Apple may provide developers with App Store, crash, diagnostic, and performance information depending on your device and App Store settings. We use that information only to understand reliability and improve the app.
If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy information before enabling those features.
7
Apple Platform Services And Sharing
Remember When uses Apple platform services such as iCloud, CloudKit, Photos, Camera, Location Services, MapKit, Notifications, Background Tasks, and App Store services to provide app functionality.
If you export or share a memory, the app creates the export only after you choose that action. Once you send exported content to another app, person, or service, that destination handles the content under its own privacy practices.
At this time, Remember When does not use third-party advertising networks or third-party tracking services. If third-party services are added in the future, this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy answers will be updated to describe what data those services collect and why.
8
Data Retention And Deletion
Your memories remain stored until you delete them. You can delete memories, photos, tags, categories, places, and reminders inside the app. If iCloud sync is enabled, deletion will sync to your other devices using the same iCloud account, subject to normal iCloud sync timing.
If you uninstall the app, local app data may be removed from that device. Data previously synced to iCloud may remain in your iCloud account unless deleted from within the app or managed through Apple iCloud settings. Device backups may also retain data according to your Apple backup settings.
For help with privacy questions or deletion instructions, contact developer@houseofcrippen.com.
9
Children's Privacy
Remember When is intended as a private memory app for general audiences. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that requires review or deletion, please contact us.
10
Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app or through the App Store.
